Theft case solved, accused arrested: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have solved a theft case and arrested the accused.

According to a police spokesman the stolen property was also recovered from the possession of the accused.

“On 24-10-2019, one Uzair Yousuf, son of Mohammad Yousf Malik of Heaven  Colony Eidgah lodged a written complaint in Police Post Qamarwari that during the intervening night of 23-24/10/2019, some unknown persons entered in M.I. Service Centre located at Qamarwari Near Shah Cinema and stole some Mobile Phones, Laptops etc,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

On this information, police said a case under FIR number 343/2019 under sections 457, 380 IPC was registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation was taken up, adding that a special team comprising of DO Qamarwari, DO Bemina  headed by SHO Parimpora under the overall supervision of SDPO WEST was constituted.

“During the course of investigation, crime scene was examined, scientific evidence and CCTV footage was collected and accordingly a number of suspects were questioned. Among other suspects, two suspected persons namely Mohammad Sadat Hussain, son of Mohammad Abdullah Hussain of Fareedabad Haryana at present Palpora Noorbagh and Abdul Rehman Sheikh, son f Qurban Ali Sheikh of Taimur Nagar Delhi at present Tengpora Srinagar were questioned and both were found involved in the instant case and both the persons were formally arrested in the case and on their disclosure, 12 No. of Mobile Phones of XIAOMI Brand and 03 No. Laptops of different companies were recovered from their possession,” police said.

Police said that both the accused persons are under police custody and the investigation of the case is going on
