SEC reviews District Development Council poll arrangements

JAMMU: In order to ensure timely delivery of election related material and deployment of poll personnel in far flung and inaccessible areas of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, State Election Commissioner, K. K. Sharma, today reviewed the arrangements including air lifting of poll personnel and election material in these areas with Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma.

The SEC directed the concerned to work out a fool proof mechanism for planned airlifting of men and materials to inaccessible areas which are cut off due to extreme weather conditions so that there is no obstruction in the election process. He said that this would ensure maximum participation of people of these areas in the upcoming polls.

The SEC asked the Divisional Commissioner, for taking up the important matters with the concerned authorities in the Union Government as well so that early delivery of election material and other related things is ensured. He also called for proper coordination among various departments to ensure clearance of roads, snow, etc. “The elections are of prime importance as they will go a long way in ensuring development at the grass root level and we should ensure that no section or area is left out of the electoral processes and denied their democratic right,” he added.

The meeting was also attended by senior officers of Election department.
