Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said in a statement issued here.

“Officers while patrolling during intervening night of 14/15 November in the jurisdiction of Police Post Frisal intercepted two persons in suspicious condition at Main Market Frisal who after noticing police party tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully nabbed by the patrolling party,” said the spokesman.

He further said that the arrested have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Ganie resident of Frisal and Shahid Ahmad Bhat resident of Brazloo Yaripora.

“During checking, Heroin and cash Rs.6000 was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

“Accordingly, case FIR numbers 144/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Yaripora and investigation has been initiated,” added the spokesman.
