BARAMULLA : To mark the beginning of Rabi Season, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today kick-started the sale of high yielding onion seedlings by distributing seedlings among farmers.

On the occasion, around 15,000 number of onion seedlings were distributed among the farmers of Baramulla Town and its adjacent areas and the initiative will cater the domestic requirements of hundreds of households of the town.

Speaking on the occasion, DC said that this initiative was taken with an aim to enable farmers to get better agricultural inputs for efficient and productive produce. He said that different initiatives are being taken for the welfare of farmers adding that development of agriculture has been the priority of the district administration.

Among others, Chairman MC Baramulla Umar Kakroo, Chief Agriculture Officer Mohammad Yousuf Shah, District and sectoral level officers besides, officers/officials of Agriculture department and concerned functionaries were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the DC accompanied by various concerned officers paid a visit to Dargah Aaliya located in Old Town Baramulla where he took stock of various necessary arrangements put in place for the celebration of ensuing Eid-i-Milad.

On the occasion, DC interacted with the concerned committee members who apprised him about their demands with regard to the celebration.

The DC assured that all the requisite arrangements were made so that the devotees may not face any kind of inconvenience. He also urged them to keep in consideration all the related health advisories pertaining to COVID-19 and stressed not to allow any kind of large gatherings.
