Srinagar : Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested six gamblers from a gambling site Banidpora and seized the stake money.

A police spokesman said that a joint Police party from Police Post Nowgam and Police Station Sumbal raided a gambling site in Check Ganastan following an input about gambling activities and apprehended six gamblers.

They have been identified as Mohd Maqbool Naikoo, Syed Reyaz Shah, Imtiyaz Hussain Ganaie, Mohammad Qasim Dar  all residents of Nowgam Sumbal, Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Zaripora Tergam and Mohammad Haneef Dar  residents of Gund Khalil Trigam, said the spokesman.

“Playing cards and stake money of Rs 7600/- was recovered from the gamblers. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sumbal where they remain in custody,” said the spokesman.
