Srinagar: Putting an end to speculations of mass promotion, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) on Thursday announced that it will conduct face-to-face offline examination of 8th and 9th standard students.

According to the SCERT order, the T-2 examination of Class 8th and 9th shall be conducted at school-level for the current session in face-to-face offline mode.

SCERT Director, Veena Pandita in a notification said, “The concerned schools shall set the question papers. For uniform assessment of the students, the sample papers from T-2 syllabus shall be prepared by the Educational Research, Survey and Assessment Wing of SCERT and CMDE wings of the concerned DIET as per the assessment scheme in vogue with a 40 percent choice to the students.”

“Conducting the pen and paper assessment for these classes will not only help to check the learning levels of the students during the lockdown but will also avoid the negative effects of mass promotion,” she said.

The notification reads that the examination shall be conducted by the School Education Department through the concerned directorates by strictly following the SOPs issued by the government from time to time.

“The Principal DIETs shall meet out the expenditure on the result compilation and preparation of achievement cards of the students out of the available MSE Funds on this account as per the prescribed norms in practice,” SCERT said.

However, in respect of the private school students, actual expenses to be incurred on preparation of the same shall be worked out and charged from the private schools. (KNO)
