Block Diwas observed across all districts of Kashmir division

SRINAGAR : As part of Governments ambitious Jan Abhiyan programme, the Block Divas or Youm-e-Block was today observed with great enthusiasm across all the districts of Kashmir division.

On the occasion, the respective District Administrations organised grievance redressal camps besides other related events at Block Headquarters and at different locations of the district to listen to the public issues, grievances and raise awareness on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for welfare of youth, farmers and others besides assessing the progress of developmental works being executed in different sectors and redressing the public grievances as well as providing the services to the masses at their door steps to strengthen grassroots level democracy.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, K K Sidha chaired the Block Diwas cum redressal camp at Sub Division Kokernag which was attended by a large number of local people from the adjacent villages besides representatives of Auqaf Committees, civil society members and prominent citizens of the sub division, a government communiqué said.

On the occasion, the DDC listened to the public issues, grievances and demands patiently and assured for redressal of grievances of public importance.

He issued on spot directions to AEE PMGSY for starting construction work on 1 km Takiyamagam road for which Panchayat has been already earmarked Rs.6.00 lac, besides Jal Shakti Department was also instructed to start laying of 1200mtr water pipes for the said village and ensure regular tanker service for Indarwan and other Gujjar paties of Sagam.

He also directed PRIs to submit the list of bridges in consultation with officers to be constructed during next year and assured for development of 1200 kanal state land under JKHM PC for augmentation of fruit Mandi and other multiple purposes.

The DDC directed Jal Shakti and Health department for collection of water samples to avoid spread of Hepatitis-B as the most of such patients belong to the villages of Magam and adjacent villages of Sagam.

He also assured for upgradation of PHC Sagam and said that the matter will be taken up with Director Health Services.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer listened to people in Pulwama block and redressed hundreds of grievances on spot.

On the occasion, DDC appealed to people to become active participants so that the issues of daily importance are redressed in the minimum possible time.

He directed the concerned Officers to be proactive and remain accessible to the people so that the purpose of the initiative is fulfilled in letter and spirit.

During the public hearing various delegations, individuals and deputations from Panchayats apprised the DDC about the issues pertaining to the different departments.

The DDC gave patient hearing and assured timely redressal of the grievances, whereas on spot directions were also passed for the redressal of the genuine demands raised by the people.

Block Divas was also held in block Tral and Pampore where designated officers including   ADC Tral and BDO Pampore besides other officers listened to the issues, grievances and demands of the people.

The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal visited Block Lar where he presided over the grievance redressal camp and listened to the issues of people.

During the camp, a large number of people including PRIs from Lar, Safapora and Wakura blocks turned up to the camp and apprised the DDC about various issues and grievances and sought his intervention for early redressal.

The DDC resolved several issues on the spot besides issued instructions to the concerned departments to take measures to address the public issues.

The DDC assured the PRIs that all their genuine issues would be taken into consideration in a time bound manner and directed the officers of line departments to work in coordination with the PRIs so that equitable development of all panchayats is ensured in the district.

The resource persons of various departments also raised awareness on individual beneficiary oriented schemes available with their concerned departments so that eligible persons can avail the benefits.

Block Diwas was also organised at different locations of the district to listen to the public grievances and to raise awareness on individual beneficiary oriented schemes where designated senior officers listened to the public grievances and resolved the majority of them on the spot with the intervention of the concerned department.

Earlier, the DDC visited District Hospital Ganderbal where he took appraisal of ongoing development works and directed the concerned to expedite the progress of work so that all works are completed within the stipulated time frame.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza attended the Block Diwas or public outreach program at Govt. Girls High School, Block Nagam. The DDC on the occasion emphasized that District Administration is committed to deliver services at the doorsteps of the people.

He while appreciating the public participation in the program urged them to come forward and work as a team for the development of the area.

The DDC took an opportunity to inform the public at Block Nagam that the Panchayat Raj shall have three tiers very soon, thus ensuring further devolution of powers and urged the general public to participate for the overall development of the area.

He also met scores of public delegations/individuals and listened to their issues and grievances.

The DDC instructed all District/Sectoral officers to remain sensitive to all the genuine issues and grievances registered by the public.

The DDC distributed Ladli Beti certificates and uniforms among school going students.

On the occasion various line departments had installed stalls at the venue depicting and demonstrating various kinds of services, products and schemes meant for Public welfare.

At Bandipora:  Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad visited Sumbal Sub-Division to review the progress of the developmental activities and also held an interaction with the public as part of the Block Diwas.

On the occasion, the DC was apprised about the progress of various developmental activities besides reviewing the implementation of various state and centrally sponsored schemes. He also interacted with the public to assess and get the first-hand account of the public grievances.

Dr Owais urged the officers to expedite the pace of work on several projects to meet the deadline before the onset of the winter.

Earlier more than two dozen delegations besides scores of individuals apprised the DC about the problems faced by them, the DC Bandipora gave patient hearing to the delegations and passed on-spot directions for redressal of their grievances. He also distributed domicile certificates among   several beneficiaries.

District Development Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais said all the developmental activities are being monitored and it is being ensured that the ongoing works are completed on time.

Meanwhile Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora held a public outreach programme at Bandipora Block and interacted with the public including representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions.

At Shopian: Block Diwas programme was today observed in three blocks Shopian, Zainapora and Keller of district Shopian during which the concerned officers listened to public issues, grievances and demands.

The concerned officers on the occasion highlighted the objectives and aim of the Jan Abhiyan, Jan Sunwayi and Poshan Abhiyan programmes informing the common masses that these public campaigns are aimed at reaching out to the public for redressal of their grievances and addressing the developmental issues.

The locals participated in these Block Diwas programmes in large numbers and apprised the officers about their grievances and other issues and also sought early redressal of the same.

The concerned officers at their respective blocks listened patiently to their issues, grievances and other demands and also assured of redressing the same at an earliest.

Mega Block Dewas was today held at 3 blocks viz. Devsar, Kulgam and D.H.Pora blocks of the district. Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat listened to the peoples grievances, issues and demands for their early redressal besides distributing sanction letters under PMEGP, KCC and prosthetic aids among the eligible beneficiaries besides various certificates including domicile and income among the applicants.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo visited Kangroosa village of Rafiabad where he chaired a public grievance camp and listened to various issues and demands meant for the overall welfare and development of the area. The PRIs and other prominent stakeholders highlighted their grievances and demands and sought intervention for redressing the same in a bound manner.

The DC gave a patient hearing and assured that all their issues and demands shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their time bound manner.

Dr Itoo said that the administration is keen to streamline public service delivery and added that various developmental works are being identified and subsequently approved for their execution. He further urged to cooperate with the administration for combating COVID-19 by properly following the requisite SOPs and guidelines.

Meanwhile, the DC issued on-spot directions to various concerned officers with regard to the redressal of some issues and demands for which the people expressed gratitude to the administration.
