Heaps of stinking garbage causing inconvenience to people in Baramulla

Baramulla: Heaps of stinking garbage at Khawaja Shab – ward 4 in Municipal Council Baramulla is causing grave inconvenience to the pedestrians and local residents.

“There are no garbage bins in the localities and people are forced to throw the waste on roads,” said Rafeem-ul-salaam, a local.

He added that garbage menace continues to haunt old town as Municipal Council has miserably failed to find a permanent solution to the problem. “Heaps of garbage is seen on vacant places in most of the residential localities of old town.”

Another resident Bashir Ahmad said that the heaps of unattended garbage attract stray dogs and other stray animals which add to the worries of people.

When contacted Chairman Municipal Council Baramulla, Umar Kakroo, said, “These spots are temporary collections points and are being cleared on daily basis.”

“We have also constructed four garbage sheds in old town,” he added.
