Gandhi Jayanti: Advisor Baseer Khan highlights Gandhian ideology

SRINAGAR : Emphasizing the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology in present era, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today emphasized the officers to work earnestly for empowerment of downtrodden segments of the society.

Advisor Khan was speaking at the celebration of 151st Gandhi Jayanti here at Sanat Ghar Bemina, Srinagar.

The event was also attended by Vice Chairperson J&K KVIB, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat, Deputy Mayor SMC, Parvez Qadri and officers from Industries and Commerce department.

On the occasion, Advisor Khan unveiled the sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi in the office complex Sanat Ghar besides installing Desi Charkha there.

Paying floral tributes to Bapu, Advisor said that there is greater need and significance of following Gandhian Philosophy and ideology in present era of chaos and confusion. We all should pledge on such great occasions to work collectively for the common good of our community.

Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat highlighted the Gandhi’s message of peace and non violence exhorting the participants to follow the same for larger interest of the society. She also referred to Swadeshi movement championed by Bapu adding that Prime Minister has launched the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan which aims at making this country self-reliant. This mission shall invigorate a new lease of life to MSME sector of the country, she maintained.

Secretary KVIB presented vote of thanks on behalf of J&K KVIB.
