B2V3: Shaleen Kabra visits Lethpora Panchayat

PULWAMA : Principal Secretary Home Department, Shaleen Kabra today said that the J&K Government’s unique Back to village program has revived the idea of governance and rejuvenated the spirit of public services.

Inaugurating the third phase of Back To Village Programme in Lethpora Panchayat Halqa of Block Awantipora, he said that the Program is aimed at to improve service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time and achieve cent percent saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes. He added that the main purpose behind the B2V is to strengthen the roots of good governance in J& K and empower the common people besides give direction to new governance model adopted by UT Government.

On the occasion, he laid the foundation stones of two playfields in the Lethpora Panchayat Halqa to be completed at a cumulative cost of Rs 23.78 Lakh

As a visiting officer, he was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer and SSP Awantipora besides other district officers.

The Principal Secretary inspected the stalls put up by different departments and enquired about the grievance redressal mechanism being adopted to meet the public demands.

He interacted with hundreds of people who had attended the B2V3 and listened to their issues and grievances. He also distributed sporting kits among school children, income and domicile and other certificates.

He also handed over Baby Kits to newly born girl children under BBBP, wheel chairs, hearing aids, walking sticks among the persons with disabilities, besides sanction letters under Ladli Beti Scheme.

During the event school children displayed various sporting activities like Martial Arts, Chess competitions and Tug of war.

The PRIs and local welfare committee members also met the visiting officer and raised their demands and issues.

They raised the issue of discrepancies in the land records, the issue of ban on construction along the national highway, besides demanded an overhead bridge on Highway near Lethpora, up- gradation of water supply scheme and establishment of Trauma Centre in the area.

A delegation of Saffron farmers demanded streamlining of the functioning of sprinkle irrigation system, besides exhibition gallery for saffron growers on the national highway.

A delegation of Youth raised the issue of modern play field besides construction of an open air gym in the area.

Meanwhile, Back to Village Programme was held in all eleven Blocks of the district where officers discussed local development needs with the PRIs and the issues being faced by the common masses. The designated officers -ADC Pulwama, ADC Tral and ADC Awantipora and other district and sectoral officers listened to the demands and issues of the people.

On the occasion, many grievances were solved on the spot and rest were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt redress through an established tracking system.

Meanwhile all the offices in District Pulwama took Swachhta pledge in their respective offices to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.
