Raids conducted on illegal mining in Pulwama

PULWAMA : On receiving immense complaints from the locals, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer conducted nocturnal raids in the intervening night of 27 September here.

The DC conducted raids in Lassipora, Kakapora, Pampore and Galander to check operations of illegal mining in the district and seized scores of clay loaded tippers.

During the raids 16 tippers were confiscated besides   impounding and blacklisting 30 tippers by the ARTO.

The DC directed the ARTO to cancel the RCs, Driving Licenses and Permits of the seized vehicles, besides directing the respective Tehsildars to lodge FIR against the violators.

He expressed resentment over the indiscriminate mining despite section 144 is already imposed at places where illegal mining is taking place.

The DC directed the concerned departments to have day and night vigil to curb the incidents of mining and reiterated zero tolerance policy of the district Administration against illegal mining and asked the concerned to act tough against the violators.

The DC on the occasion was accompanied by the teams of officers from Geology and Mining Department, Motor Vehicles Department and revenue officials.
