Resumption of Gulmarg Gondola brings cheer to tourists

Gulmarg: 106 tourists enjoyed the Gondola ride on first day of resumption of cable car service on Sunday here.

Pertinently, the government has allowed the commercial operation of Gulmarg Gondola on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from Gulmarg to Kongdoori.

According to the officials, the JK Cable Car Corporation earned Rs 78,000 on the first day.

“The resumption of the first phase of Gondola cable car service in tourist resort Gulmarg brought cheer to tourists and those associated with the tourism industry,” they said.

“Around 106 tourists including 36 non-locals and 70 local tourists enjoyed the ride of first phase,” They added.

The concerned authorities said that the Gondola will continue to operate twice a week viz Saturdays and Sundays with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols; maintaining social distance, sanitization of cabins before and after boarding and de-boarding of passengers, compulsory wearing of masks.

“No tourist shall be allowed to board the Gondola without masks and any tourist with temperature exceeding 99° Celsius shall not be allowed to enter the premises of the ropeway. This is for the information of tourists visiting Gulmarg,” said the officials of the cooperation.

Jammu and Kashmir government earned a record Rs 30 crores from the Gondola cable car project in the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg last year.
