KULGAM : The Legal Metrology, Kulgam Slapped a fine of Rs 72000 (Seventy Two Thousand) on Brick Kilns for overcharging and supplying undersize Bricks to the Consumers.

Legal Metrology Department, Kulgam led by Assistant Controller, Mohammad Muzaffar Wani, Carried out the surprise inspection on various Brick Kilns across the District. During the inspection various Brick Kilns including the vehicles carrying bricks to various destinations were checked.

The LMD Kulgam found that three such brick kilns were supplying undersize Bricks to the consumers and that too without any proper bill or receipt. Despite the order issued by the worthy Deputy Commissioner Kulgam on 15-09-2020 in which the rate was fixed at Rs:21000/ for 3000 number of Bricks.

However, these brick suppliers were supplying the same at around Rs: 24000/= as per the information provided by the local consumers. Taking the cognizance of the offence, those Brick Klin owners were booked.

Meanwhile, The Assistant Controller on the assurance that all shortcomings with respect to size shall be rectified and resolved by the said proprietor besides adhering to approved rates, compounded the cases and Rs’ 72000!” was collected as fine from 04 such violators.

Further, the Assistant Controller directed all the concerned not to overcharge from the Consumers and to provide the genuine bill to the consumers. They were also directed to establish applicable standard sizes of bricks.
