JAN ABHIYAN: M Raju listens to public issues at Reasi Panchayat

REASI : As part of the Jan Abhiyan, Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, M.Raju along with the District Development Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib on Friday visited Panchayat Sujandhar of Block Bhamagh  to take the first hand appraisal of grievances of the general public.

Scores of people including Block Development Council Chairperson Bhamagh, Ashok Kumar, Sarpanchs, Panchs, civil society members participated in the Jan Abhiyan Programme.

The BDC Chairperson, Sarpanches and panches and public on the occasion projected numerous issues of Public importance and sought their early redressal. The specific demands raised during public hearing programme included adequate staff in health and educational institutions, better road connectivity, up-grading  of health infrastructure and augmentation  of drinking water facility, inclusion of names of left out eligible beneficiaries under BPL etc.

The visiting Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the issues and demands. Some of the issues were resolved on the spot while the rest were forwarded to the concerned departments for their redress. He also directed the officers to resolve all those pending issues   before the next Block Diwas.

The Secretary said that the UT administration is working with an aim to ensure time bound disposal of all the genuine issues and assured of providing transparent and responsive governance to the people.

He highlighted the objective of the Jan Abhiyan saying that this grand public campaign is aimed at reaching out to the public for redressing their grievances and address developmental issues.

The Secretary exhorted upon the concerned officers and officials of different departments to play a key role in achieving the objectives of the programme.

M.Raju also felicitated the beneficiaries whose houses have been completed under the PMAY-G scheme by providing them momentos and blankets. He also handed over  domicile certificates among the applicants.

The Secretary also convened a meeting with the concerned officers of the Jal Shakti and Irrigation and Flood Control departments to review the progress of various schemes being implemented in the district.

The District Development Commissioner apprised that there are 31728 and 42370 households in Reasi and Dharmari respectively out of which 18561 in Reasi and 22744 in Dharmari are already covered under tapped water connection. She informed that 1766 households in Reasi and 2356 in Dharmari are to be connected with tapped water connection through ongoing water supply schemes.

She further informed that as many as 117 retrofitting schemes have been sanctioned under Jal Jeevan Mission through which 11401 households in Reasi and 17272 households in Dharmari shall be provided functional tapped water connection.

The Secretary asked the concerned officers to work in a mission mode and complete the works on the projects within already set deadlines to provide relief to the general public.
