Secretary DMRR&R reviews development scenario, COVID mitigation measures at Kulgam

Distributes Domicile, other certificates, educational assistance worth Rs 25.61 lakh among beneficiaries

KULGAM : Secretary Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Simrandeep Singh, who is also In-charge Secretary for Monitoring Development works in Kulgam district, chaired a meeting of officers to review development scenario of the district besides taking stock of measures being put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus here today.

During the meeting, a Power Point presentation was given to highlight the development profile of the district.

Secretary had a detailed review of all major development projects being executed by different departments in the district. He emphasized upon the officers to put in extra efforts to make sure these vital development works are completed at the earliest. He asked the concerned authorities to keep strict monitoring over all the works being done in their jurisdictions which is pre-requisite to ensure timely and quality completion.

It was informed that 108.50 Km of road length has been macadamized, so far, during 2020-21 while 14 projects including 7 bridges and 7 roads are under execution at an estimated cost of Rs 49.97 crore under NABARD.

Regarding languishing projects, it was informed that out of 100 projects worth Rs.137.19 crore approved for funding through JKIDFC 20 projects including 7 bridges, 11 Water Supply Schemes, 1 building and 1 playfield have been completed at cost of Rs.13.57 crore. Besides, there are several major projects under execution in the district which inter alia included Finance Complex, Conference Hall, EKLAVYA Model Residential School, IPD Block District Hospital Kulgam.

Under Ayushman Bharat, it was informed that against a target of 76562 beneficiaries in the district 44989 have been registered while 44989 Golden Cards issued and Rs. 1.77 crore have been disbursed among 3875 pregnant women under PMMVY during 2019-20 and 2020-21. Besides, sports playfields have been completed in 80 Panchayats at a cost of  Rs. 222.90 lakh.

Meanwhile, DDC apprised the Secretary about various measures being put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection in the district.

Earlier, Secretary distributed Domicile, Income, RBA certificates, job cards, driving licenses and agro machinery among the beneficiaries here at Kulgam. He also distributed educational assistance of Rs. 25,61,000 among the registered   beneficiaries of Labour Department as part of ongoing Jan Abhiyan programme.
