Advisor Bhatnagar inspects progress on dev projects in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, today visited district Ganderbal where he inspected progress on several ongoing developmental projects.

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, Chief Engineers of R&B and PHE; MD, JKPCC; SE R&B Division Ganderbal; Executive Engineers of R&B and PHE; ASP Ganderbal and other concerned accompanied him.

During the visit, the Advisor inspected progress of work on various projects including the newly constructed main building of Government Degree College Kangan. He also inspected  under Construction laboratory and  classrooms  & 75 Bedded Girls Hostel at Government Degree College Kangan, construction of a 4 storey transit accommodation at Wandhama, 148 meter Span bridge at Watalbagh Babosipora, construction of 4 laning road from Pandach to Beehama.

While inspecting the progress on under construction class rooms and laboratories for Government Degree College, the Advisor was informed by the Chief Engineer R&B that project is approved under languishing, costing Rs 4.8 crore and will be completed by December this year and construction of 75 Bedded Girls Hostel is approved under RUSA at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore which will be completed by March 2021.

The Advisor stressed for expediting the work progress on both the projects by way of engaging more men and machinery so that both the projects get completed within stipulated time frame.

During his visit to the site for Transit Accommodation which is coming up at Wandhama, Ganderbal, the Advisor assessed the progress on works being executed there.

Chief Engineer R&B briefed the Advisor Bhatnagar about progress of work on the project and discussed the layout plan for Transit Accommodation.

He was informed that the project comprising 12 apartments and 192 flats has been approved for an amount of Rs. 18 crore and May 2022 has been fixed as the deadline for its completion.

Later, the Advisor inspected the progress on Watalbagh Babosipora Bridge being executed by the JKPCC approved at the cost of Rs 15.62 crore. The MD JKPCC informed the Advisor that Bridge is completed and work on approach road on Babosipora side is pending due to land acquisition issue.

Keeping in view the importance of the Bridge, the Advisor asked the DDC to take all necessary measures regarding land acquisition so that approach road is completed and bridge is thrown open for the public at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Advisor also inspected the progress of work on construction of a 4 lane road from Pandach to Beehama. The Advisor was briefed by the concerned about the physical and financial progress of the project. He was informed that project cost is Rs. 53.03 crore which include Rs 32 crore for land compensation and Rs. 20 crore for civil works.

…visits District Hospital Ganderbal

GANDERBAL : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, today visited District Hospital Ganderbal and took stock of medical facilities available there in view of ongoing pandemic COVID-19.

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, Chief Engineers of R&B and PHE; MD, JKPCC; SE R&B Division Ganderbal; Executive Engineers of R&B and PHE;  CMO Ganderbal; ASP Ganderbal and other concerned officials accompanied him.

During his visit to District Hospital Ganderbal, which has been designated as Covid Hospital (100 bedded), the Advisor enquired about the management of patients there and directed the concerned officers to follow all safety measures while providing the health services to the people. He also directed the CMO to provide all necessary safety equipments to frontline health workers who are dealing with the Covid patients.

The Advisor also enquired about the pace of work on under construction blocks there. The officials of the executing agency informed the Advisor that main emergency block is already handed over to the health department besides works of other 2 blocks are in progress.

Keeping in view the current scenario due to Covid pandemic, the Advisor directed the concerned authorities to expedite the pace of work and complete the works on additional blocks by December so that bed capacity of hospital is increased and put to public use at the earliest.

Advisor Bhatnagar also interacted with the doctors and staff of the hospital there and enquired about the prevention measures and the treatment of the COVID patients. He lauded the salutary work being done by the doctors and staff. He also interacted with the staff looking after the COVID ward.

He said that UT Administration is committed to provide best health services to the people within the UT and in this regard various initiatives have been undertaken like procuring of advanced medical equipments for proper functioning of all units of the health centers and several other initiatives are underway to uplift the health infrastructure in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
