Deputation of Municipal Councils calls on Advisor Sharma

SRINAGAR : A deputation of Presidents of Municipal Councils of Kashmir led by its Chairman Mohammad Iqbal Ahmad today called on Advisor to the Lt. Governor, K.K Sharma and raised several issues related to their respective areas.

President MC Ganderbal , Altaf Ahmad raised several demands like  Fruit Preservation Centre, Up gradation of grafted walnut infrastructure, Establishment of Scheme for grape farmers whereby, the farmers will be provided 75% subsidy, Establishment of walnut Fruit Mandi with latest equipments in Kangan, Cold Store for Zazana Fruit Mandi, Installation of Deep Bore Well for Ganderbal town, Grape bower for urban areas, Plant material for urban areas, Tehsil wise creation of new Agriculture Zones, Development of Colleges by way of providing updated infrastructure to boost the Education sector and other issues.

President MC Baramulla, Omar Kakroo raised several issues of Municipal Council Baramulla like transfer of Land to MC Baramulla, augmentation of District Industrial Estate, Establishment of Skill Development Institutes, Issues of Horticulture and Agriculture like establishment of Cold Storage and Issues regarding Up-gradation and Augmentation of existing Degree Colleges.

President MC Dooru, Mohammad Iqbal projected several issues like creation of Agricultural and Horticulture Zone in Dooru Verinag area, Development of Infrastructure in already established degree Colleges besides introduction of new academic courses, establishment of Skill Development Institutes in twin towns, transfer of land for dumping sites and establishment of solid waste management plants, repair and renovation of educational institutions.

The Advisor while interacting with the deputationists assured them that the demands and issues projected would be looked into for appropriate redressal so that they are settled in a time bound manner.

Director Agriculture, Altaf Andrabi and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
