Covid-19: 701 positive cases reported in J&K, tally 33776

Srinagar: The tally of Covid-19 infected cases reached 33776 in Jammu and Kashmir as 701 new positive cases were reported today – 562 from Kashmir and 139 from Jammu division, officials said.

They said that out of 33776 positive cases, 7544 are active positive whileas 25594 have recovered including 389 who were discharged from different hospitals today.

“Out of 888127 test results available, 854351 samples have been tested as negative till August 25, 2020,” said the officials.

They said that Srinagar has 1454; Baramulla, 574; Pulwama, 457; Kulgam, 266; Shopian, 91; Anantnag, 470; Budgam, 566; Kupwara, 604; Bandipora, 898 and;  Ganderbal, 577 active positive cases.

In Jammu division, Jammu has 697; Rajouri, 85; Ramban, 27; Kathua, 126; Udhampur, 110; Samba, 210; Doda, 58; Poonch, 69; Reasi, 187 and; Kishtwar 18 active positive cases.

Meanwhile, 19 more Covid-19 patients died in Jammu and Kashmir taking the toll to 649. The dead include a a 95-year-old man from Srinagar’s Kawdara area and a 45-year-old CRPF man from 162 battalion who was posted at Humhama Budgam.

Among the casualties, sixteen were from Kashmir Valley while three persons including a 53-year-old and a 63-year-old male from Bakshi Nagar Jammu who expired at Government Medical College (GMC). The third death from Jammu division was that of a 45-year-old woman from Kathua who died at GMC Kathua.
