Srinagar : A young man drowned during sand extraction from the river Jhelum in Samboora area of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Reports said 21-year-old Irshad Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Laroo Kakapora slipped from a boat into the river while extracting sand today morning in Karnabal area.
They said many locals immediately jumped into the river but couldn’t save him. It took them several hours to fish out Shiekh’s body.
