Pak fires across LoC in Uri
Srinagar: Pakistani troops fired across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kamalkote sector of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, officials said.
“From 10:45 to 11:45 am, ceasefire violation was reported from Lowergrah and Upergrah posts of Kamalkote Sector in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district,” the officials said.
Pakistani troops fired from small weapons, they said.
Pakistan army on Sunday evening also resorted to firing and shelling on the forward areas and posts along the LoC in Rajouri district, a defence spokesperson said.
The cross-border shelling in Nowshera sector started around 7 pm but there was no report of any casualty on the Indian side, the spokesperson said.
He said the Pakistan army initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars, prompting “befitting retaliation” by the Indian army.
