Srinagar: Driver of Director Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Syed Sehrish Asgar sustained injuries after the personal weapon of a Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) official went off accidentally at Jawhar Nagar, area of Srinagar today.

Officials told News Agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Ghulam Nabi, the driver of DIPR, sustained bullet wound after the riffle of SSB official posted with 10 Battalion D-Company, at J-55 government quarters at Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar went off accidentally.

“The driver was immediately removed to the hospital where he is being treated,” the official said, adding that an inquiry has been ordered to find out how the riffle of SSB man went off. “The bullet that came out of the riffle of SSB man first hit the wall and then the driver,” officials told KNO

The incident created panic in the area after which officials rushed to the spot. “An inquiry has been ordered. So far the condition of driver is stable,” he said. The incident took place at a time when J&K is observing I-Day amid tight security cover everywhere.
