Srinagar: Maulana Imran Raza Ansari has decided not to conduct any Muharram Majalis or procession under All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA) banner amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued here, President AJKSA, Maulana Imran Raza Ansari, said that considering the fatwa of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husayni al-Sistani and Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus, no Muharram Majalis or procession will be conducted by AJKSA.

Quoting verses from Quran, Ansari said that Allah says in the Holy Quran, “So ask the people of the reminder if you do not know” (Fas’alu ahl al-dhikr in kuntum la ta’lamun).

“In the Quran, it is written that if you do not know anything you should consult the people of reminders or people of the Book. These people are Scholars, Scientists, Doctors, Administrators and Frontline Workers,” Ansari said.
