With 473 fresh cases, J&K’s Covid-19 tally reaches 23927

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir today reported 473 new Covid-19 positive cases, 345 from Kashmir and 128 from Jammu division, taking the total number of positive cases in the UT to 23927.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory stands at 7,260, while 16,218 patients have recovered from the infection, the officials said.

The cases detected on Friday include 52 people who recently returned to Jammu and Kashmir, they said, adding, of the total 23927 positive cases in J&K, 4830 have been reported as travelers while 19097 as others.

The officials said Srinagar district in central Kashmir recorded a maximum of 123 new cases followed by 61 in Jammu district.

Officials said that out of 695620 test results available, 671693 samples have been tested as negative till August 07, 2020.

Meanwhile, eight more Covid-19 related deaths were reported from J&K on Friday including a CRPF man in Kashmir, taking the toll to 454.

KNO reported that eight persons who died due to dreaded pandemic  include a 60-year-old woman from Sopore Baramulla, a 55-year-old man from Chersoo Awantipora, a 65-year-old woman from Sarnal Anantnag, a 32-year-old man from Hawal Srinagar, a 46-year-old man from Kokernag Anantnag, a 60-year-old man from HMT Srinagar, a 65-year-old woman from Dalgate Srinagar and a 65-year-old man from Hawal Srinagar.
