Samoon inaugurates Webinar Series 2020-Meeting the Mentors

SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, School Education and Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today inaugurated the Webinar Series – Meeting the Mentors, organized by Government Polytechnic College Jammu.

Over 680 Polytechnic students have registered to attend the Webinar series.

Speaking at the Webinar, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon stressed on the need to impart quality Skill education and to generate greater employment opportunities for the students of Skill Development Department. He also emphasized on a stronger Industry -Institute Partnership with emphasis on practical education to students. He appreciated the efforts of the Institute in organizing such webinars for the students in current situation and guiding them towards a successful career in Engineering by interacting with Mentors.

In his address, Director Skill Development Department, Sajad Hussain Ganaie emphasized the importance of such online webinars as very crucial for all round development of students and making them aware about various potential career avenues.

Principal Govt. Polytechnic Jammu, Er. Arun Bangotra, while presenting the welcome address at the start of the webinar, said that the motive of organizing this webinar series is to provide a platform to students to interact with Mentors who are successful Technocrats, Entrepreneurs and Alumni of Government Polytechnic Jammu having successful careers in various government and private sectors.

The mentors of the Webinar Series titled ‘Meeting the Mentors’ are Er. Jagdeep Singh, Technical Specialist at Cummins Inc, USA, Er. Brajveer Singh, Technical Specialist at Department of Atomic Energy, GOI, Er. Kuldeep Singh Gandralia, Entrepreneur with an industrial set up Prayog Industries Ltd and the mentor for the final session will be the son of the soil and alumni of Government polytechnic Jammu, Er Amit Khullar, presently serving as Wing Commander in Indian Air Force. He will be interacting with students in four sessions.

The session was attended by Joint Directors of Polytechnic and Joint Directors of ITIs, Principals of Polytechnics, Superintendents of ITIs, HODs, faculty members and various students of polytechnic sector from both Jammu and Kashmir Divisions.

The members of the organizing committee were Rajesh Khajuria, TPO, Er. Ajay Thapa, Er. Jasdeep Kour, Er. Shoket Ali and Er. Akash Dusgotra. The session was moderated by Er. Jasdeep Kour, Lecturer Government Polytechnic Jammu.
