SKUAST-K commences 3-month entrepreneurship training for Agri students

Srinagar: With an aim to inculcate entrepreneurial mindset and build business skills among the agriculture students, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) kick-started a three-months Entrepreneurship Development Programme today.

The programme is being conducted by the prestigious Lemon School of Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the university’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell under ICAR-World Bank funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the IDP of SKUAST-K.

About 75 students from agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, forestry and other streams of the university are participating in the programme.

Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof Nazeer Ahmed, chaired the online inaugural function of the training programme.

SKUAST-k’s Director Planning & Monitoring and PI NAHEP Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, CEO Lemon School of Entrepreneurship (LSE) Deepak Menaria, Director LSE Mukesh Ashar, Business Development Manager LSE Saurab, SKUAST-K’s Deans, HODs and NAHEP Faculty Coordinators participated in the inaugural function.

Vice-Chancellor, while appreciating the efforts of the NAHEP team for organising such programmes for the students of the university, said inculcating innovation and entrepreneurial skills among the students are the need of the hour. He thanked LSE for conducting the training that will foster startup culture and prove an entrepreneurial launchpad for the students at the national and international level.

Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai said the Entrepreneurship Development Programme would prove backbone towards strengthening the entrepreneurial culture across the faculties and pave way for more such programmes in the future.

CEO LSE at the occasion said that LSE has the vision to support, mentor and train budding as well as early-stage entrepreneurs. “The pedagogy being Learning by Doing, Learn through reflections and real-life experimentation,” he said, adding, “We believe that creation of work portfolio through experiential learning and pre-incubation training is vital for entrepreneurship.”
