Baramulla: Day after the body of a 16-year-old youth from Hajibal Baramulla was found in Doribal Qaziabad forest area, his family today demanded swift probe to identify the people involved in what they termed is “murder” of their kin.

Mourning family members of Ashiq Hussain Bhat (son of Hussain Bhat of Hajibal Baramulla), whose body was found yesterday, said that on July 06 he went along with his aunt to Hanoora, Rafiabad.

“We received a call from Hanoora family informing us that Ashiq has left the place but he had not returned home. We got worried and searched him everywhere but couldn’t trace him. We lodged missing report with police and they started investigations,” said his brother Irshad Ahmad.

“Yesterday, after 16 days, police station Dangiwacha informed us that the body of the missing youth was recovered from a pool in the forest area of Doribal Qaziabad,” he said.

Claiming that Ashiq “has been murdered”, the family said that they want identification of the killers and “stern action against those who killed the innocent youth in cold-blood”.

“We want justice and identification of killers immediately. My brother has been brutally murdered and later thrown into a forest pool. Who killed him and why…?” the family asked.

The injury marks on Ashiq’s body suggests that it is a case of murder, the family claims.

Police have already registered a case in this regard and investigation is going on.

‘Police have taken the cognizance of the case and investigations are going on,” said SHO Dangiwacha Dr. Yasar Mahmood, who declined to divulge further details.

“We are waiting for the postmortem report and accordingly will take up investigation,” he added.
