Divisional Commissioner conducts tour of Srinagar City

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, today conducted an extensive to take stock of availability of parking spaces and proposed road widening in various areas.

The Div Com visited Old Assembly Complex, Budshah Flats, Magarmal Bagh, Bus Adda Batamaloo, Doodganga Parking, Cow Farm land Chatabal, National School parking, 90 ft Road, SKIMS Land, Chatti Padshahi Gurduwara Rainawari, JLNM Hospital Rainawari, Gousia Hospital Khanyar and Sangamal Parking and Children’s park.

Stressing on creating adequate parking spaces and removing bottle- necks hampering smooth flow of vehicles on city roads, the Div Com instructed concerned to finalize DPR on road widening from Shergadi Police Station to Batamaloo road, adjacent to Doodh Ganga Nallah for its widening.

SSP traffic was instructed to ensure mapping of all vulnerable spots and carry out videography of all bottle-necks at congested spots in the city to remove them.

The Div Com stressed on shifting of utilities particularly electricity poles on road- sides to allow hassle-free execution of road widening at all spots.

For smooth traffic flow across all Srinagar roads, the concerned were directed to smoothen road curves at all identified spots besides directing them to start work on plugging of damaged central road dividers.

During the tour, Div Com also took stock of the pace of work process of various under- construction shopping complexes and instructed concerned agencies to ensure work is expedited on all projects to ensure early rehabilitation of shopkeepers affected by road widening projects in Batamaloo and other areas.

SMC and SDA authorities were directed to take concurrence from Urban Transport Committees before establishing shopping complexes or other structures for proper balancing between development and transport system.

He instructed on constructing a rotary at Batamaloo to facilitate smooth flow of vehicles and decongest traffic there.

On visit to Sangarmaal Shopping Complex, the Div Com emphasized on early execution of work process on the development of Children Park and instructed concerned departments to install and set up all required infrastructure there.

The Div Com also stressed on early land transfer of sites proposed to be developed as parking spaces and strict instructions were passed on to ensure removal of encroachment of roads and parking places.

The Div Com said that to cater parking facilities to Ganderbal and Bandipora, Waqf Land available at Eidgah shall also be developed as a parking facility.

He called for the creation of a parking facility for JLNM Hospital, Chatti Padshahi Gurduwara and other important locations.

Stressing the early macadimization of city roads, the Div Com directed the concerned to blacktop road between Batamaloo and Bemina behind Toto Ground and ensure face lifting of other roads in the city.

Meanwhile, the Div Com instructed all concerned to start work as per the directions promptly besides taking detailed review of directions also passed during earlier city visits.

During the tour, the Div Com was accompanied by Chief Engineer, R&B, Director Health Services Kashmir, Commissioner SMC, VC SDA, SSP Traffic, SP Headquarter Srinagar, ADC Srinagar, MS Gousia Hospital and other concerned officers.
