Srinagar: An army soldier was killed when his service rifle accidentally went off in Gulmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, an official said.
The deceased soldier was identified as Akshay Kumar, 23, from Haryana.
The official said that the soldier of 19 Grenadiers was posted at Dewar Gali post along the Line of Control in Gulmarg.
Another soldier was killed along the Line of Control in Kargil sector when he accidentally stepped on a landmine, Army sources said here.
The incident took place on Saturday night, they said.
The soldier stepped on an old unexploded device, the sources said.
