Residential house, shops damaged in landslide in Kangan

Ganderbal: A residential house and dozens of shops were damaged in a massive landslide in Kangan Tehsil of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday, officials said.

A landslide occurred at around 12 PM today on Srinagar-Leh highway at Bunibagh Kangan, six kilometers from the main market, said the officials.

The landslide caused massive damaged to the residential house and dozens of shops. The house belonged to Ghulam Muhammad Mir, son of Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir of Banibagh area of Kangan while as the shops belonged to Ali Mohammad Mir.

Following the incident, Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Kangan, Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad along with Police officials visited the spot to assess the damage.

BRO, SDRF, Police and Army were pressed into the services to clear the Highway. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal told KNO that no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
