Poonch: A former Army Havildar who had subsequently joined Defence Service Corps (DSC) shot himself dead with his service weapon at Mendhar area of this district on Saturday, officials said.
They said that the 45-year-old, former Havildar of 4 JAKLI, Bashir Ahmad, was shifted to hospital soon after he was found in pool of blood at the place of posting in Mendhar.
A resident Salani Mendhar, Bashir was declared brought dead by the doctors who attended upon him.
SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli confirmed the incident and said that investigations have been launched in this regard. (GNS)
