Double-storey residential house gutted in fire in Duroo Sopore

Sopore: A double-storey residential house was gutted and property worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes in fire in Duroo village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Witnesses said that fire engulfed a double-storey residential house of Abdul Khaliq Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar of Duroo Sopore. “The house was completely destroyed and goods worth lakhs of rupees was turned into ashes.”

They said that around 1:45 pm on Wednesday, a major fire broke out from the residential house of Dar which engulfed the entire house in jiffy and goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes despite immediate fire fighting operation by locals who were later joined by fire servicemen.

People have appealed the government to provide immediate relief to affected families.
