Sopore: Residents of Warpora and its surrounding villages staged a protest against Jal Shakti department on Tuesday over shortage of drinking water in their areas.
Protesters blocked Sopore-Bandipora road leaving vehicles stranded. They said that people of Warpora and its surrounding villages were facing hardships due to the shortage of water.
“The officials of Jal Shakti department have not bothered to solve the issue despite being approached many times.
Officials in Jal Shakti department told Kashmir Images that the main cause of water shortage is dryness and continues fluctuation of electricity in the area.
