Div Com inspects arrangements at Yatri Niwas

JAMMU : Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today visited Yatri Niwas at Bagwati Nagar and inspected arrangements being put in place for comfortable stay of pilgrims of  Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2020.

The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by Director Tourism, R K Katoch; Director Health Services, Dr Renu Sharma; Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr Tahir Firdous; SSP Jammu, Shridhar Patil; SSP Traffic, Joginder Singh besides senior functionaries of Jal Shakti, JPDCL, PWD, JMC and other concerned officers.

The Divisional Commissioner took a round complex and inspected the halls and other sections. He asked the Director Tourism to immediately start the repairing, maintenance and white wash work of halls, toilets and other blocks of Yatri Niwas. The Director Tourism was also directed to ensure the completion of works well before the  start of the Yatra.

He also issued directions to the JPDCL, Jal Shakti to ensure uninterrupted power supply, installations of lights and adequate water supply to the Niwas.

Director Health and other concerned officers were asked to make a comprehensive plan for sampling, testing and quarantine facilities for the devotees as the government has decided to go for sampling of each devotee.

Meanwhile Verma today chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners of border districts to review the progress on construction of individual and community bunkers along the border in Jammu division.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Jammu, Joint Director Rural Development Department besides engineers of executing agencies while Deputy Commissioners of border districts along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the progress of work on under construction individual and community bunkers in their respective districts. It was informed that work is in progress on bunkers in all the districts.

It was informed that a total of 7134 bunkers have been completed so far in the division including 6281 individual bunkers and 853 community bunkers.

The Div Com directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work and adhere to the fixed timelines for completion of construction of individual and community bunkers.

He reviewed the progress on land acquisition cases for various development projects/works in the division. The Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division participated in the meeting through video conferencing informed that majority of the cases have been resolved in their respective districts while pending cases are also under progress and would be resolved soon.

The Div Com asked the DCs to further expedite the progress on all the land acquisition, requisition cases in their respective districts and resolve the cases within time bound manner. He also asked them to issue final awards where the draft awards have already been issued.
