Four persons die as well collapses in Kupwara

Kupwara: In a tragic incident, four persons including two brothers died after a well they were working on collapsed in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

Witness said that four persons were busy in construction of well when it collapsed burying all the four at Singhdan Warsun Dardpora village of Kralpora.

“Soon after the incident, rescue teams from police and allied departments rushed to the spot to retrieve the person safely. Three persons were rescued in unconscious state and shifted to sub-district hospital Kralpora where doctors declared them brought dead on arrival. Later another one was also found dead,” witnesses said.

“All the four were declared brought dead by the doctors in hospital,” a police official said

He identified the deceased persons as Showkat Khan, son of Ghulam Hassan Khan, Altaf Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mahad Sheikh, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan and his brother Altaf Ahmad Khan, sons of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Khan.

He added that deceased laborers were working inside a 30 feet deep well when it collapsed on them.

Police said the bodies have been handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after medico-legal formalities.
