Laigaroo demands extensions for last installment of Sales Tax
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party youth Secretary Arif Laigaro has demanded that JK government must take a considerate view for further extension of sales tax amnesty announced by the then finance minister.
The third and final installment was to be paid by 31st of March, 2020, which due to 5th Aug, 2019 circumstances was extended first upto 31st, March 2020 and then once again due to COVID-19 lockdown upto 30th June, 2020.
“In view of the present business situation and keeping in consideration that since lockdown was implemented on 21st of March, the business fraternity has only started partially resuming its business operations since 10th of June 2020 on alternate basis. Thus, every business has been operational for only 10 days since the lockdown was eased,” he said in a statement issued today.
Laigaro on behalf of the traders of J&K, who have already paid two installments on time and are unable to pay the third installment due to prevailing situations, appealed the government to take a lenient view and extend the same further for a period upto 31st Dec, 2020, so as traders get ample time to handle their business stress.
