Int’l Day against Drug abuse: IRP-11th Battalion hosts awareness camp
SRINAGAR: An awareness camp was today organised at IRP-11th Battalion Headquarters in DPL Anantnag to mark International Day against Drug Abuse & illicit trafficking,.
The awareness camp was organised in conjunction with the resource persons from drug de addiction centre DPL Anantnag.
All the officers & officials of the unit including officers from district police Anantnag participated in the camp with special emphasis on observing social distancing norms and other COVID-19 protocols.
The camp started with the officials of the battalion highlighting the importance of the day as well as the permeation of this menace & the inroads it has made in the society at large, especially focusing on the negative impact for the youth who have become addicted.
The resource persons namely Mudasir Aziz and Kounsar Wani highlighted the magnitude of this problem, the reasons for people for taking to drugs & the breaking down of the checks & balances prevalent in the society.
They also made the participants aware about the various aspects of this issue & the importance of government & non governmental agencies especially the police in controlling the spread of this menace. They also stressed on the involvement of the society as a whole, so as to mitigate the adverse affects of drugs.
Sandeep Mehta, CO IRP 11th BN, also highlighted the importance of the day & the need to educate people about the ill effects of drug addiction on the society as a whole & the measures that can be taken to stop its spread. He stressed on involvement of various stakeholders so as to have a holistic campaign on multiple fronts for curbing this menace.
All the officers & officials of the battalion took a pledge to take this message across, to inform & educate people about the impact of this menace on the society; especially the youth & to take proactive steps to stop its spread across the length & breadth of the J&K.
