Government failed to cope up with exigencies in wake of COVID-19 crises: Sakina Itoo
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and state secretary Sakina Itoo on Monday expressed concern over the development deficit and administrative inertia in south Kashmir saying the administration has failed to cope up with the exigencies in wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

People living in south Kashmir areas see no light at the end of the tunnel due to the problems that have been compounded by the ongoing COVID-19 crises, she said while expressing dismay over the slothful attitude of the administration towards addressing the woes of people in south Kashmir districts.

“The horticulture industry is in shambles, people associated with the trade haven’t received any help from administration. Cash strapped agriculturists and horticulturists have all along been at receiving end due to the vagaries of weather and the unrelenting turbulent situation since august last year.  Every vital economic activity in south Kashmir has unfortunately come to a grinding halt.  The situation has become chaotic as the number of COVID-19 patients continues to rise in various south Kashmir districts; local administration has failed to take adequate steps to contain the viral sprawl. Miffed at the lack of response to the plethora of economic, development, and health issues, people in the south Kashmir region are going through the worst nightmare of their lifetime,” she said.

She further said, “The administration has miserably failed in its primary duty of ensuring people effective and basic amenities. There is no accountability on ground; the entire south Kashmir region has been left out. Administration has failed students, farmers, orchardists, and people associated with small and marginal businesses. Nothing is being done to assuage their problems, which have aggravated due to the situation prevailing in J&K since August last year. Bureaucracy, it goes without saying has failed on every single front to deliver on ground,” she said.
