JKP must continue its proactive role in the prevailing scenario: DGP

Srinagar : Greater synergy and consistent drive against enemies of peace is paying dividends and yielding good results. Such efforts must continue to ensure that peace is maintained and safeguarded against the onslaughts of elements opposed to a peaceful environment in Jammu and Kashmir. According to statement, this was stated by Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on his visit to South Kashmir’s Shopian and Anantnag Districts today.

“Accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Vijay Kumar, the DGP was received by SSP Shopian and other police officers and a guard of honour by a police contingent was presented as he arrived at District Police Lines Shopian. The DGP chaired a security review meeting and also interacted with the Jawans.The security review meeting was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range Atul Goyal and other police officers,” reads the statement.

“Addressing the meeting, the DGP commended the tireless efforts of the District Police and Security forces in bringing down the terrorist activities by sustained operations during the past 6 days during which 14 terrorists of HM and LeT have been neutralised providing a better sense of security to the people in the area,” the statement said.

“The sustained efforts of JKP and synergy of police with other forces have yielded notable successes on anti-insurgency front and added that such efforts shall continue in future also to ensure peaceful environment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been victim of Pak sponsored terrorism since decades,” the statement quoted DGP as saying.

“Under the effective supervision of field officers at different levels from the JKP and other forces, each member has contributed in the best possible way in maintaining normalcy and defeating the evil designs of the anti-national elements,” he said.

“Despite recent successes there are serious challenges of security and we should continue our sustained actions to ensure long-lasting peace. While reiterating the importance of continued vigil over the emerging situations, there should be no let up on the security concerns and required measures, the DGP stressed,” he added.

“He emphasized upon the officers that establishing rule of law is our prime concern and JKP along with other security agencies would continue to strive in that direction. Our actions must be guided by law of the land and general good of the people.

While briefing about the prevailing security scenario, the officers gave a detailed overview enunciating the security measures initiated for ensuring peace and stability in their respective areas,” the statement said.

“The DGP later visited Anantnag District and interacted with SSP Anantnag, ASP Anantnag and other territorial officers about current security scenario of the district. He enquired about the progress made by police in bringing the Killers of Sarpanch Late Ajay Pandita (who was killed by two terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen and already stand identified by Anantnag police). He was informed that action is on to bring them to justice,” it said.

“SSP Anantnag Sandeep Choudhary briefed the DGP, J&K about the measures being taken to further tighten the security arrangements in the area. The DGP directed the officers to keep their hard work on and have regular interactions with their officers and men to stay focused on the targets as also to remain in touch with people of their respective jurisdictions and attend to their grievances,” reads the statement.

“He also advised them bust narco -terror networks and appreciated the role of Handwara police for arresting three such notorious operators and recovering a huge quantity of 21 kg narcotics and an amount of Rs 1.34 crores cash from them last evening,” it added.
