Srinagar: Acting on a specific tip-off, Kupwara Police on Monday apprehended a militant along with huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Police spokesperson said that Kupwara Police after specific input arrested a person namely Mohammad Hafeez Raina son of Safi-u-Rehman Raina of Amrohi, Karnah who had received a consignment of arms and ammunition from across the border and had been tasked to deliver the consignment to some militant outfit in Valley.

“Upon this information, a team of Police from PS Taad apprehended the above mentioned person and conducted searches in particular areas which led to the recovery of arms and ammunition including 10 Hand Grendades, 04 Wireless Sets and 200 AK47 Rounds”, police spokesperson said.

He added a case in this regard under FIR No. 40/2020, U/s 7/25 IA Act and section 13 UA(P) Act. in PS Karnah has been registered while further investigation have been started.
