DC Budgam reviews functioning of MC’s

BUDGAM : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today reviewed functioning of Municipal Committees and visited many quarantine centres to have an on spot appraisal of arrangements and status of hygiene there.

During the visit, DC received feedback from inmates about the facilities being provided to them and maintaining hygiene by the concerned department.

Later, the DC chaired a meeting of Executive Officers of all municipalities of the district where in a detailed review was taken about the arrangements put in place by the organization at Quarantine Centres etc.

The concerned EOs briefed the officer about the measures taken for cleanliness, lifting and dumping of garbage on daily basis from these centers.

While taking serious note of negligence found in some quarantine centers in maintaining cleanliness, the DC said that no laxity on part of any official will not be tolerated, adding the erring official will have to pay for it. He reiterated that responsibility assigned to any official should be delivered with dedication and honesty.

On the part of dereliction of duty, shown by the Principal Government Girls Hostel Budgam, who was Incharge of a quarantine centre, the DC put him under suspension with immediate effect.

During the meeting, the DC directed all EOs to treat inmates at all quarantine centers cordially and ensure that sanitation in wake of Covid-19 pandemic is carried out twice on daily basis at all quarantine centers besides install dustbins in and around all quarantine centers and ensure that no garbage of any kind, liquid or solid is left unattended.

Mirza urged upon the concerned officials that fumigation and sanitization of all Red Zones should be carried out efficiently.
