Court grants bail to undertrial in murder case, asks to install Aarogya Setu app

New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted interim bail to an undertrial prisoner arrested in a murder case, while directing him to install the ‘Aarogya Setu’ app on his phone.

Additional Sessions Judge Naveen Kumar Kashyap on Saturday granted relief to accused Ravi Dhikaon his plea that he had to take care of his ailing wife who was undergoing treatment as there was no one else to take care of her.

The court’s order came after the investigating officer confirmed that the contention made by the accused about his wife’s treatment was true.

Besides directing him to install the ‘Aarogya Setu’ app on his mobile phone, the court also asked him tokeep the GPS location and Bluetooth of his mobile phone on at all times during the period of release.

The court also directed Dhika not to tamper with the evidence, influence the witnesses or flee from justice. It also directed the accused to appear before the SHO concerned every Monday by sharing his mobile location.

The court further directed him to surrender before the jail superintendent after the period of interim bail is over.

“Applicant is further directed to install ‘Aarogya Setu’ app on his mobile phone and will keep location, GPS as well as Bluetooth onall the time during the period of such interim bail,” the court said.

The interim bail was conditional on the accused furnishing a personal bond and surety of Rs 20,000 each.

The accused was in custody in connection with an FIR for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
