Joint Director Agri Extension conducts Field Visit of Bhalwal Block

JAMMU, MAY 07: Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Jammu, Bal Krishan Chandan today conducted an extensive visit of Bhalwal Block to assess the progress of various Farmers’ Welfare programmes including National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC).

He was accompanied by Subject Matter Specialist, Regional Level, J. C Raina, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Marh,  M. R. Rakwal, SCA Akhnoor Arun Jaral and AEO  Bhalwal, Vandana Kotwal  besides others officers and staff members.

He inspected various works like Vermicompost Units, individual Borewells, Community Borewells set up under NAFCC Project by the Department at Raipur, Bherha, Tawa, Marjali, Bhalwal and Lower Gharota Villages.

Interacting with the farmers, Joint Director asked them to diversify their farming activities under Vegetable Cultivation, Apiculture, Mushroom Growing, Seed Production and adoption of latest agriculture machinery to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer’s income. He stressed on construction of Rainwater Harvesting Structures utilizing uncultivated farm catchment areas including roof tops/open areas around buildings.

Earlier, he inspected the ongoing works of Soil Testing Laboratory under NAFCC Project at Bhalwal. He also inaugurated one Mushroom Unit constructed on 75% Subsidy at Village Upper Amb under Capex Budget.

He was also apprised that 20 Bore-wells, 14 Water Harvesting Tanks and 32 Vermicomposting Units have been completed under NAFCC Project.

Agriculture Officers Dr. Vijay Koul, Dr. Sarvjeet Singh, Dr. Jatinder Verma, Dr. Anuj Anand, Dr. Madhu Rani, Dr. Sonika Kotwal and Dr. Sudakshna Verma apprised the Joint Director about achievements of various farming schemes under implementation in their respective areas.
