JAMMU, MAY 7: Forest Department today foiled an attempt to encroach a huge chunk of Forest land at village Budhan of Mahore Block in Reasi district.

The department swung into action after it received the reports about the construction of illegal concrete structure inside Compartment no 128/Ar during lockdown period, an official of the department said.

On receiving the report, a joint party of Territorial and Forest Protection Force staff demolished the under construction concrete structure being raised on the encroached land, he informed.

The attempt to raise ‘the illegal pacca structure’ was being made by one Liquat Ali Son of Noor Mohammad, officials informed.

“Despite tough resistance by the encroacher, the structure was finally dismantled and around 25 kanal of Forest land was retrieved,” the Forest department officials said. They said that construction material being used in the construction was also seized by the team & kept on ‘Supradnama.’ The Department has also filed a case against the accused encroacher.
