Srinagar: A youth from Alamgari Bazar area in old city died of the novel Corona-Virus at Sri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital here late last evening taking the number of death due to deadly epidemic to 9 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The youth became 8th and the youngest victim of the Corona-Virus in the valley.

Pertinently a total of nine people including eight from Kashmir valley alone and one from Jammu have so far died of the COVID-19 in the Union Territory.

The 32 years old youth from Alamgari Bazaar as per medicos treating him at the SMHS Hospital was admitted there two days ago. They said he was diagnosed with Phenomena and later on tested positive for Corona-Virus last evening only.

They also said the youth might have contracted infection at Oncology section of Super specialty Hsopital, Shereen Bagh wherein a female patient was recently diagnosed with Corona-Virus.

“He died shortly after being tested positive for COVID-19 last evening; youth had no travel history although  he was attending his father at Oncology section of Super specialty Hospital, Shereen Bagh and might have contracted the infection, ,” they told ‘Kashmir Images’.

When contacted Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital, Dr Nazir Choudhary confirmed the death of 32 years old youth due to Corona-Virus.

He said the youth was admitted in the hospital Tuesday who succumbed to deadly disease late last evening a day after being admitted in the hospital.

Meanwhile a thorough contact tracing has been initiated and those who might have come into deceased youth’s contact will be sent to quarantine.
