M Raju reviews preparedness for meeting power supply requirements in summer

JAMMU: Secretary, Power Development Department, M. Raju today chaired a meeting to discuss issues related to the upcoming transmission Projects of Jammu Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) of Power Development Department for the year 2020-21, besides preparedness for meeting power supply requirements during the summer season.

Threadbare deliberations were held on the transmission constraints, summer preparedness measures (2020) including the action plan of the JKPTCL in overcoming these constraints.

The instructions were issued to the concerned Managing Directors and Chief Engineers to submit district-wise map on the transmission and distribution constraints of the electrical network starting from the upstream 220/132 KV Grid station to downstream 11KV feeder. It was emphasized to correlate the peak load demand witnessed at the Grid Level with that of 11KV feeder.

The Secretary emphasized on the need for conducting load survey of consumers in the UT to match the registered load with the peak load witnessed in the region.

The JKPTCL’s preparedness for meeting power supply demand of Jammu region in the summer was also reviewed.

The Secretary, PDD also reviewed the progress of shifting of utilities on NH projects and directed the CE transmission to adhere to the timelines submitted to the department.

It was informed that the transmission plan of J&K for meeting the peak load demand of 4300 MW of J&K, with an estimated cost of Rs. 6000 Crore stands submitted to Ministry of Power.  The Secretary directed the MD, JPDCL and KPDCL to submit the plan for their distribution projects within a week’s time.

The issues related to making available   land for the Centrally Sponsored Transmission Projects with the cooperation of Revenue Department were also highlighted in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by MD, JPDCL, Yasha Mudgul; MD, KPDCL, Mohammad Aijaz; MD, JKPTCL, P R Angurala; Director Finance JKPDD, Mohammad Sultan Malik; Director Planning, JKPDD, Rakesh Jamwal; Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Jammu, Gurmeet Singh; Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Kashmir, Hashmat Qazi; Chief Engineer, KPDCL, Aijaz Ahmed Dar; Chief Engineer, JPDCL, Sudheer Gupta and other senior officers of the Power Development Department. The officials of Kashmir Division participated in the meeting through Video Conference.
