Handwara: A gunfight broke out between the militants and government forces in in Chanjmullah Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, police said.
Forces have launched a massive cordon and search operation in the area following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.
“Encounter has started at #Chanjmullah area of #Handwara. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” said a police spokesman on Twitter.
The exchange of fire was going on when this report was being filed.
