Director RDD takes stock of on-going works in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: To take first hand appraisal of the progress achieved in different sectors under various flagship schemes  being implemented in the district, Ganderbal, Director, Rural Development Department, Kashmir, Qazi Sarwar toured various blocks of the district today.

Later, he convened a meeting at Conference Hall, Mini-Secretariat Ganderbal which was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Ganderbal, District Panchayat Officer, Ganderbal, Executive Engineer, REW, Ganderbal, Block Development Officers and other field functionaries of the district.

During the field visit, Director inspected various on-going agriculture related works under MGNREGA, interacted with MGNREGA labourers and advised to adhere to the Covid-19 protocol including social distancing, use of face masks, frequent washing of hands, to ensure safety and well being of their families.

The Director impressed upon the field officers and officials to gear-up and ensure completion of agriculture related works, approved under Annual Action Plan immediately, so that farmers do not face any difficulty on account of irrigation. He also stressed on the need for obtaining feedback from the public regarding the works being executed.

During the review meeting the Director was informed that 89 of works have been resumed in the district under MGNREGA during the lockdown period, as per the SOPs laid down , engaging 1224 House-holds so far in the execution of these works.  Under rural connectivity two works have been taken up for execution at an estimated cost of Rs. 93.87 lacs, which are under progress.

Under COVID19 control efforts, 0.65 lac surgical masks and 3.00 lacs reusable cotton masks were procured and 3.00 lacs masks were distributed among health Officials, Frontline workers and general public with main focus on distribution of masks in Red Zone areas.  4670 pamphlets were distributed, among the general regarding Do’s and Don’ts related to COVID19 so that necessary precautionary measures are taken.

Services of 27 Self Help Groups registered with NRLM have been utilized for manufacturing of re-usable cotton masks till date.

Besides, with the help of PRIs (Panchayat Level and Block Level Awareness committees) and in coordination with District Administration Cleanliness of the rural areas, sanitization and fumigation of all the congested residential areas including lanes and bye lanes is a continous affair besides, assessment of availability of essential commodities in rural areas and home delivery of ration and LPG Cylinders in consultation with the Tehsil and District Administration is also being ensured.
