Baramulla: A young girl with flu symptoms from Khuroo Langate Handwara died of cardiac arrest at GMC hospital Baramulla on Friday evening soon after she was brought to the hospital.

Suspected as Covid-19 patient by doctors, as she was having symptoms like high fever and breathlessness, doctors took the sample for coronavirus testing and handed over the body to the family asking to strictly follow protocol for Covid-19 patient as nothing can be ruled out as this stage.

Medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla Dr Syed Masood said that 18 years old girl from Khuroo Langate Handwara died of a heart attack on her arrival to the hospital.

The swab sample of the teenager for coronavirus was taken and sent for test, he said.

“We have handed over the body and all measures as are taken for a COVID-19 patient would have to be adhered to,” he said, adding, “We counseled the family for the importance of conducting last rites strictly as per Covid-19 protocol. We have also informed Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, as well as BMO concerned regarding the last rites as per the Covid-19 protocol,” he said.
