First Lady lauds PWWA for promoting welfare measures for JKP jawans, their families

JAMMU: Smita Murmu, First Lady of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, visited the Police Welfare Centre in Jammu today.

Dr. Rubinder Kaur, Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association(PWWA);members of the Association including Archana Choudhary, Shabnam Mir; Garib Dass, IGP (Hqrs) PHQ, and senior officers of the JKP  were among those present on the occasion.

Dr. Kaur accompanied the First Lady during the visit and gave a brief introduction about the activities of the Centre which primarily has been undertaking various initiatives for training and capacity building of women in traditional crafts and thus facilitating the revival of the traditional skills. She further informed the First lady that the Police Welfare Centre, recently, in its efforts towards COVID 19 prevention & mitigation has started mass production of face masks and body suits for the JKP personnel, doctors and other frontline workers of the Police hospital.

The First Lady also inspected the quarantine centre established at the Police Hospital and took stock of the preparedness of the hospital to cope up with the COVID-19 crisis. She interacted with the hospital staff and evinced keen interest in knowing about the facilities being provided to the front line workers including the doctors, paramedics, and support personnel at the hospital.

Murmu observed that the collective efforts of individuals, institutions, and organizations are fundamental to win the fight against the spread of COVID-19.She complimented the efforts of PWWA for playing their role in the prevention & mitigation efforts of this infection in addition to the overall welfare measures for police personnel and their families.
