Doctor at GMC Bla tests positive

Baramulla: As a doctor from Government Medical College Baramulla tested positive on Tuesday at SKIMS, four doctors, nineteen paramedics of GMC and family members of the doctor are among the 30 primary contacts traced and subsequently quarantined.

Medical Superintendent Associate Hospital GMC Baramulla, Dr. Syed Masood told Kashmir Images that unfortunately a doctor posted at GMC Baramulla was tested positive today ringing alarm bells among the health officials.

“It seems an accidental contact as right now we are unable to find the known contact. The doctor might have come into contact with some patient accidentally and he was immediately isolated,” Dr. Masood added.

He informed that so for 30 contacts of the said doctor have been traced and they have been quarantined which include four doctors, nineteen paramedical staff and his family members.

“GMC today received reports of 80 tests, 79 were negative and one (that of the doctor) was positive,” he added.

When asked whether quarantining such huge number of doctors and paramedics of GMC would affect work in the COVID-19 crises at GMC, Dr. Masood replied, “We have already kept one third of staff spared for these types of situations. The provision of backup is always taken. We won’t let the hospital work to suffer and have taken all precautions,” he added.
